Eyeglasses may be all you need to manage the vision changes from your keratoconus. However, as keratoconus progresses and the shape of your cornea changes, you may need frequent prescription changes. We offer attractive frames and designer options so your eyeglasses can keep up with your style.
In the early stages of keratoconus, soft or hybrid contact lenses can correct your blurry and distorted vision. If your keratoconus advances to a moderate stage, rigid, gas-permeable contact lenses can be made to fit your corneas and correct your vision. Dr. Wong specializes in fitting lenses for patients with unique eye concerns.
If you have an advanced form of keratoconus or would like to halt the progression of keratoconus, Dr. Wong can refer you to a specialist for treatment. Your specialist may recommend corneal cross-linking. Corneal cross-linking can stabilize and strengthen the cornea to slow or stop the progression of keratoconus.
Corneal cross-linking can often prevent the need for corneal transplant surgery. However, a corneal transplant may become necessary to improve your vision if your cornea becomes scarred or thin, or if you find it difficult to wear contact lenses.
